8 Things You Should Never Say at an Interview

8 Things You Should Never Say at an Interview

In an interview, your main goal is to impress the interviewers and the hiring manager. You will have to prove that you are worth the job and you are better than the other candidates. You will have to prove that you have the exact amount of skill, a wonderful personality and the drive to make new things in your latest job role.

But while you are preparing the answers for your interview, it is very important to know when the hiring manager or the interviewers will raise the red flag. After all, a single move or two and all your huge sales figures from your last company would not matter.

So, to help you out we have arranged for these 8 points that would help you present a proper interview.

  1. Do your homework

The first and foremost rule before going for an interview is research. You would never want to walk into the interview knowing nothing about the company or the job profile.  You will have to show the excitement and interest. To get started start gathering information about the company, their tie-ups. The best way would be to contact an employee or an ex-employee.

  • Never bad-mouth about your last company

No matter how bad your previous job profile was, you must never badmouth about your last employer in an interview. Try and keep the tone of your voice between neutral and positive basically focusing on what you have learnt from your past experiences and what you wish to achieve with these in the near future.

  • Never show that you are nervous

You may be more nervous than any time in your life, but you advised to never show this nervousness in front of the interviewers. No company would ever want to hire an employee who is nervous. So, in this case, honesty is not the best policy and you are advised to fake it.

  • Never say that you will do whatever you are given

In most of the cases, the hiring managers only look for people who are only interested in the specific job role that they have been provided with. So, whenever you say that you are ready to do anything that your employer asks for, that becomes a big red flag.

  • Never say that you do have enough experience

This is the worst mistake one can do as a recent graduate. The main problem while using this is that you are basically not her and you are not fit for the role. Instead of drawing attention to your weakness start with the positive things or the positive talents that you have.

  • Saying ‘ It’s on my resume’

Whenever an interviewer asks about something that is written on the resume, he actually wants to know beyond what is written. Here the interviewer is actually testing your communication and social skills.

7.    Using cliché buzzwords

Resume buzzwords like ‘I think out of the box’ usually makes interviewer glaze upon your resume will never get you very far.

  • Stop using filler words

Using filler words like an um and like would basically focus on your lack of confidence and in the worst case may seem that your communication is quite poor.
