United Arab Emirates- UAE is a culturally rich country. It is a federation of 7 Emirates: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras al Khaimah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. UAE is full of ethnic diversity and luxury, which makes it one of the best tourist destinations. Once you complete this article, you will get to know a few amazing facts about UAE.

  1. Peaceful agreement for freedom and union: UAE got their independence through peaceful agreement and not by violence. This happened because of its leverage over the discovery of oil. Furthermore, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan brought the 7 Emirates together in union to form a country and hence he is called the father of the nation.
  2. Political setup: UAE is a federation of 7 monarchies. The Emir Of Abu Dhabi is the president who also serves as the Supreme commander in chief of the UAE forces and chairman of the supreme petroleum council. And the Emir of Dubai serves as the Prime Minister.
  3. Largest airport terminal: Dubai international airport is the largest airport terminal in the world. It has great facilities such as a 5-star hotel, swimming pool, a gym, Jacuzzi, Zen gardens and much more.
  4. Masdar City: It is a planned city project in Abu Dhabi, intended to be the world’s first zero carbon, zero waste, and car-free city. The primary power source will be solar or wind, and the electricity will be generated using photovoltaic panels.
  5. Women empowerment: UAE has empowered its women residents, too, who are now breaking all the stereotypes. Two third of the public sector jobs in UAE are filled by women. They also own businesses and add value to the private sector. UAE is the first country that has made it mandatory for corporations and government agencies to include women in the board of directors.
  6. Official religion: The official religion followed in UAE is Islam, and the official language is Arabic. However, the visitors and tourists are allowed to follow their own religion and speak their language. UAE has churches, cathedrals and other places of worship too. Many other languages are also spoken here, such as English, Hindi, Malayalam, Farsi, Nepali, Urdu, Mandarin etc.
  7. Sunday is a work day: Since Friday is a holy day for prayers in Islam, UAE has declared Friday and Saturday as weekends and other days are work days.
